Traceability solutions  Traceability, as a concept, refers to interconnecting several business partners, with regard to the commodities they exchanged and also to the information flow implied. Although the physical movement of goods follows the logical flow across the supply chain (supplier, producer, distributor), the information flow must be possible both ways. Here comes the notion of traceability, that appears across the entire supply chain. Traceability is first of all internal, when information related to every item followed on the "receiving-production-delivery" flow is connected. Second, there is external traceability, when information related to items are connected, but items move among business partners, across the supply chain. For implementing traceability a "common language" is needed to assure continuity and unity across the supply chain, beyond the limits of software applications specific to each company. Logicode traceability solutions are based on GS1 standards (international and multi-industry standards), as a result of experience and best practices available globally. All items needed to trace must be identified by labeling or by coding. Every item must have a unique, global identifier. The implementation of a traceability system must start with a planning phase that answers the following questions: how will I choose, collect, share and store data needed for traceability? how will I manage the connections between inputs, internal processes and outputs? The next step is the alignment of basic information, each actor must obtain the unique global identifier (according to the specific GS1 standards). The phase of information tracking determines how to distribute, apply and capture the item identifiers and how to choose, collect, share and store traceability information during the physical movement of goods. This is the stage in which the identifiers are effectively distributed and applied, during physical processes, and also the information is captured. In this stage our solutions play a major role, either based on barcode technology or on RFID.
